เมื่อวันที่ 15 ก.พ. ที่บริเวณเทือกเขากระยาง หมู่ 1 บ้านน้ำปอย ตำบลแก่งโสภา อำเภอวังทอง จังหวัดพิษณุโลก ได้เกิดไฟป่าไหม้มาตั้งแต่ช่วงบ่ายวันอาทิตย์ที่ 12 ก.พ. จนถึงวันนี้ ถือว่าเป็นวันที่ 3 แล้ว ยังไม่สามารถที่จะดับได้ เนื่องจากบนยอดเทือกเขากระยาง จะมีต้นไม้และใบไม้แห้งและร้อนจัด ทำให้สามารถเกิดประกายไฟลุกไหม้และลามไปเป็นบริเวณกว้าง พร้อมกับส่งให้เกิดหมอกควันปกคลุมไปทั่วบริเวณ ทำให้ผู้ที่ขับรถผ่านไปมาตามถนนทางหลวงหมายเลข 12 สายพิษณุโลก-หล่มสัก ได้รับความเดือดร้อน ต้องขับรถด้วยความระมัดระวังเป็นอย่างมาก
เบื้องต้นทางเจ้าหน้าที่ดับไฟป่า เจ้าหน้าที่กรมทางหลวง เจ้าหน้าที่ดับเพลิงของ อบต.แก่งโสภา และอาสาสมัครดับไฟป่าตำบลแก่งโสภา ที่ได้ทำการดับไฟป่ามาตั้งแต่เกิดเหตุเมื่อวันจันทร์จนถึงวันนี้ ยังคงช่วยกันดับไฟป่ากันอย่างต่อเนื่อง แต่ด้วยสถานการณ์ไฟป่าที่ลุกไหม้อย่างรุนแรงและขยายวงกว้าง จึงยังไม่สามารถที่จะดับไฟป่าได้ เนื่องจากไฟป่าได้เกิดตามยอดเขาที่มีพื้นที่สูง ประกอบกับพื้นที่เทือกเขาสูงชันจนทำให้เจ้าหน้าที่ไม่สามารถที่จะเดินขึ้นไปดับไฟป่าได้ ในช่วงนี้กำลังจะประสานกับกองทัพภาคที่ 3 เพื่อขอกำลังพลทหารและเครื่องบิน มาสนับสนุนในการดับไฟป่าอีกทางหนึ่ง
ขณะที่ค่า PM 2.5 ของจังหวัดพิษณุโลก ยังคงสูงขึ้นอยู่ โดยวัดค่าได้ที่ 76 ไมโครกรัมต่อลูกบาศก์เมตร อยู่ในเกณฑ์ที่เริ่มมีผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพ
