The Metropolitan Police has been carrying out undercover operations over the last two years to catch suspected robbers targeting people with luxury watches.
In video footage released by the Met, criminals can be seen approaching an undercover police officer and then proceeding to take his watch during a scuffle.
A number of stings have taken place in London, after 300 watches were stolen between April and September 2022, totalling in a value of £4M.
Met Police Commander Ben Russell said that since the operations started, the number of “robberies across Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham was halved” and there had been 21 convictions so far.
