Responding to the overnight results, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the Conservatives were making progress in “key election battlegrounds” like Peterborough, Sandwell and Bassetlaw adding: “I’m not detecting any massive groundswell of movement towards the Labour Party or excitement for their agenda.”
